Diabetes Education Services offer free, three-hour classes—available for in-patients and out-patients. Taught by diabetes care and education specialists and registered dietitians, these classes cover the basis of diabetes self care, including:
- Provision of self-management education including identification of self-care obstacles
- Support and education related to diabetes devices and diabetes medications
- Meal planning and carbohydrate counting instruction
- Risk-reduction strategies in diabetes self-care
- Exercise and weight management related to diabetes
