Rehabilitation Services

Upson Regional Medical Center offers a wide range of inpatient and outpatient Rehabilitation Services. Our comprehensive and coordinated Rehabilitation Services include Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech-Language Pathology services provided by highly trained and experienced therapists.

With two convenient locations in Thomaston and Barnesville, Upson’s rehabilitation therapists and professional staff help restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease, as well as treat patients post-operation. Physician referral is required.

Physical Therapy

Physical Therapists work with patients on exercises tailored to their conditions and needs to improve their strength, balance, range of motion, and flexibility. Occupational Therapy helps patients improve their mobility to perform daily living activities. We offer manual therapy, functional rehabilitation training, and customized splints for upper extremity injuries. Our Occupational Therapists assist their patients with learning or regaining their skills to complete everyday tasks, such as:

  • Bathing
  • Getting dressed
  • Shopping for groceries
  • Using a computer or mobile device
  • Taking medication

Our compassionate and highly-trained Occupational Therapists help patients with a variety of medical conditions. Conditions treated include patients recovering from:

Speech Pathology

Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP) assess and assist patients with difficulty speaking, communicating, and swallowing.

Patients experiencing communication difficulty due to injuries or neurological conditions can
work with a SLP to improve their speech, comprehension, and communication skills. SLPs assist
their patients with handling social settings with confidence by teaching them nonverbal and
verbal skills. Our highly-skilled Speech-Language Pathologists also diagnose and treat patients
with swallowing difficulties.
