Dr. Shazad Hashmi received his medical degree from Dow Medical College in 1991. He served as Chief Psychiatry Resident at Howard University from 1999-2003. He then completed his Fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry at Emory University in 2004. Since completing his Fellowship, he has served as Medical Director for multiple Geriatric, Adult and Adolescent Inpatient facilities, runs a successful private practice and provides top quality service throughout the State in both private and public behavioral health facilities.
Dr. Hashmi specializes in geriatric psychiatry and teaches medical students from top universities and training programs across the state. He is a leader in the psychiatry field and is a long-term Distinguished Fellow at the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Hashmi has a person-centered approach to his patients and serves as a consultant to many other physicians across the State. Dr. Hashmi founded a non-profit organization to assist patients who are not able afford quality psychiatric care within Internal Medicine Clinics to address chronic care concerns in which he was honored with the 2015 Circle of Hope Award for Compassionate Medicine. When not working, he enjoys traveling, hiking, and spending time with his family.
