Upson Regional Medical Center recently announced Mr. Scott Blackstock’s election to the hospital’s board of trustees.
Mr. Blackstock has compiled a number of impressive achievements in business development, product innovation, and community service. He graduated from Georgia Tech in 1979 with a degree in chemical engineering and worked in that field for two years, until his father offered to sell him the tire business in his hometown of Thomaston. He married his high school sweetheart, Hope Sullivan, in 1979, their son, Justis was born in 1991.
Mr. Blackstock operated the tire and auto service center for more than 20 years. During this time, he branched out into other successful ventures, including auto parts, real estate development, Thomaston’s first express oil change, and most recently, Tidal Wave Auto Spa, with locations in Georgia, Alabama and North Carolina. In 2009, Mr. Blackstock was named “Georgia’s Small Business Person of the Year.”
The hospital’s board is a volunteer board comprised of community leaders with a vested interest in Thomaston and the surrounding area, while being advocates for excellence in local health care. Upson’s Board of Trustees includes Mr. Bill Hightower, Chairman; Mr. Barney Hancock; Mr. Jim Edwards, Vice-Chairman; Mrs. Kay Robinson; Mrs. Kay Searcy, Mr. Steve Keadle, and Dr. Ralph Warnock, MD.
