We offer inpatient and outpatient services. We continually evaluate the need to develop new or enhance existing services based on our patients’ needs and the advancements in technology.
As a non-profit, community-based hospital, we are fortunate to be able to reinvest in technologies, facilities and services for our patients. In fact, we became the first hospital east of the Mississippi to invest in the latest in urologic surgical technology our patients. We also were the first hospital in the state to install a 64-Slice CT, which provides fast, imaging diagnostics in 3-D.
We benchmark our success against national and state data to determine whether our patients are recuperating as well or better than patients at other hospitals with similar disease processes. We follow evidence-based protocols and patient care procedures to help ensure our patients feel better.
We continually measure how our patients feel about our services and what areas should be recognized. We contract with a company named Press Ganey to collect Inpatient, Outpatient and Emergency Department patient satisfaction surveys, and we use the feedback to improve our service and to recognize physicians and hospital staff on an ongoing basis. If you should receive one of these surveys, please take a few minutes to complete it. Your opinion is very important to us!
There are several services within our organization that have been accredited by outside agencies. These accreditations are important because they demonstrate that our services meet standards that have been established as being necessary to provide quality patient care. We voluntarily request these organizations to survey our healthcare services.
Upson is one of the first hospitals in Georgia to receive accreditation from Det Norske Veritas (DNV) Healthcare, Inc. DNV Healthcare accreditation means the hospital has demonstrated compliance with National Integrated Accreditation for Healthcare Organizations standards while also embracing ISO 9001 quality system methods. By gaining DNV Healthcare accreditation, Upson has proven it encourages the inter-departmental interaction that leads to innovative techniques for implementing evidence-based practices to improve patient safety and quality care.

Upson has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in Radiology as the result of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
The ACR, headquartered in Reston, Va., awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of the practice. Evaluations are conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. They assess the qualifications of the personnel and the adequacy of facility equipment. The surveyors report their findings to the ACR Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report.
The ACR is a national organization serving more than 32,000 diagnostic and interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, and nuclear medicine and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
